Maxwell Opara has stated that he recently met with Nnamdi Kanu who is currently being held at the Sokoto Correctional Centre after being sentenced to life imprisonment for terrorism-related charges
In a video shared by Roots TV Nigeria, Opara said Kanu’s appeal case is in Abuja, yet he is locked up in Sokoto. He stated that this distance makes it difficult for Kanu to properly pursue his appeal
Opara questioned whether the federal government would provide Kanu with a private jet to travel to the Court of Appeal in Abuja if he needs to submit important legal documents
In Opara’s words: “He is in Sokoto correctional center here. And what we are asking now is this: somebody whose appeal is in Abuja and they are putting him in Sokoto, and if he wants to file some processes would the federal government make a private jet available for him to take him to Abuja and after filing the processes they take him? So that is another issue that is given us concern because the place of jurisdiction where he is going to do his appeal is in Abuja” View, More,
