Former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has stirred debate by comparing former presidential candidate Peter Obi with Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.
In a Facebook post, Omokri challenged Obi’s supporters to explain why it was considered acceptable for him to say that Nnamdi Kanu should never have been arrested.
He also questioned why Obi insisted that the Federal Government should negotiate with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for peace. At the same time, Omokri asked why Sheikh Gumi was criticised for making a similar recommendation that the government should engage with aggrieved Fulani herders.
He went on to ask how Obi’s position differed from Gumi’s, pointing out what he described as inconsistencies in public reaction. He concluded that if critics could not respond rationally without resorting to insults, their silence would speak for itself.
He partly wrote, “Exactly how is Peter Obi different from Sheikh Gumi?” View, More,
