In a video posted on Facebook from 13:35, Kalabari chieftain Asari Dokubo voiced strong dissatisfaction with the President of the Kalabari Youth Council, accusing him of prioritizing the pursuit of oil contracts in Rivers State over genuine leadership. Dokubo, who noted that he is approaching 62, expressed frustration that despite once serving as the Youth Council President himself, he never received a single contract from the Rivers State Government.
Dokubo further emphasized that many developments within the Ijaw nation today can be traced back to his tenure as Youth Council President, claiming that his leadership laid the foundation for much of what the region now enjoys.
According to him, “Everything good that is happening in Ijaw land started with me, and after me as Ijaw Youth Council President you people have not had a president. Look at them running after contracts. In the time I was president, I didn’t do a contract; till today Rivers State government has not given me one single contract. I did not get a contract from any petroleum company, I did not get from NDDC even though I was very close to the people in NDDC. I did not do one single contract. I’m going to 62.
