A report published by Daily Post on Friday, November 21, 2025, revealed that the Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has demanded answers from the military over the sudden removal of security personnel from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, shortly before 25 female students were kidnapped in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area.

Idris made the inquiry on Thursday when he hosted the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, who visited the state to show support following the disturbing incident.

The governor voiced serious worry about the pullout, noting that the state government had already shared intelligence warnings that pointed to heightened danger in the region.

He explained that the troops allegedly departed the school at about 3:00 a.m., and the gunmen launched their assault less than an hour after their exit.

“We provided intelligence reports. We alerted them. So, who gave the order for troops to withdraw at that critical hour?” Idris asked, calling for a full military investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Idris further pointed out that the troop withdrawal ran contrary to earlier promises that schools in border communities—areas often targeted by armed groups—would receive stronger security coverage.

The kidnapping, which has triggered widespread condemnation across the country, adds to the persistent wave of insecurity in northern Nigeria, where schools in Kebbi and other North-Western states continue to face repeated attacks despite federal commitments to safeguard educational institutions.
