According to a post on Thursday November 20, 2025, in a strongly worded open letter, a prominent Nigerian businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has issued a stark warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, referred to him as “Asiwaju Bat.”, Okechukwu made it clear that without the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu (MNK), the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the administration risks losing significant electoral support in the South East region ahead of the 2027 elections.

Claiming a position of neutrality as a friend of the government, Okechukwu emphasizes his commitment to honesty, stating that the region will not deliver up to 10,000 votes to President Tinubu unless Kanu’s detention is addressed. He highlights Kanu’s profound influence, crediting him with causing substantial setbacks to South East ministers and positioning him as a supreme leader capable of commanding genuine respect and loyalty from the people.

Okechukwu criticizes other political figures from the region as ineffective and cowardly, lacking the capacity to foster public affection or drive meaningful change. He argues that only Kanu’s release can salvage the government’s standing in the South East, dismissing superficial gestures and accusing leaders of deceit and incompetence.

Referencing a recent gathering at the Deborough Hotel, he laments the inability of these officials to engage authentically with their constituents or even return to their hometowns. Furthermore, Okechukwu expresses disinterest in personal gains, such as land allocations, urging instead for development initiatives that benefit the region broadly. He stresses that Kanu alone can guarantee authentic voter turnout, underscoring the need for strategic action to secure electoral viability.

Praising Abia State Governor Alex Otti for his ability to connect with and convince the populace, Okechukwu reveals his surprise at the state’s developmental projects, which he missed due to an unfulfilled invitation from a minister in Abia. He condemns this as a betrayal and labels the weak deputy speaker as inadequate for representing South East interests.

Okechukwu also directs pointed criticism at Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, warning that continued detention of Kanu will undermine the administration’s achievements and legacies. He believes that without Kanu’s involvement, the government’s tactics will falter, leading to a loss of influence and access in key political circles.

In a final appeal, Okechukwu urges the governors, particularly Uzodinma, to prioritize Kanu’s release to support President Tinubu’s agenda and prevent a political downfall. He cautions that failure to act will result in diminished access to power structures, including the presidential villa, by 2027, with the South East firmly aligned with Kanu. Framing his message as a divine imperative, Okechukwu warns of the risks involved in ignoring this advice, signing off with a call for prudent judgment to avoid irreversible consequences.
