Justice James Omotosho has classified the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as an “international terrorist” Daily Post reports.
Delivering judgement in the terrorism case filed by the Federal Government against Kanu, the judge stated that he declared Kanu an international terrorist due to his intention to “bomb the British High Commission, and to kill the then British high commissioner Catriona Laing.”
Earlier, Justice James Omotosho issued a verdict in the legal battle involving Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and the Federal Government.
According to Daily Post, the ruling was delivered in Kanu’s absence after the judge directed security personnel to kick him out of the court over his unruly behaviour.
Nnamdi Kanu had previously argued that the Abuja-based Federal High Court lacked the jurisdiction to prosecute him.
Speaking during his trial on Thursday, the IPOB leader contended that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act, under which he is being prosecuted, has been repealed.
He urged the court to strike out the charges, describing them as “disclosing no offence known to law” and therefore invalid. View, More,
