FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has issued a stern warning to residents and businesses in Abuja over persistent disobedience of Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) directives, declaring that strict enforcement will begin next week.

“From next week, we will enforce it. We will enforce it. Let heaven come down. Instead of us waiting to go to heaven, I want heaven to come so I will see it here,” Wike said during a public address on Wednesday, expressing frustration over months of non-compliance.

According to a report by SYMFONI Television FROM 17:01 on Wednesday, November 19 2025, the minister lamented that despite repeated interventions spanning over five months, residents and business owners continue to flout regulations on sanitation, land use, environmental standards, and payment of statutory levies.

Wike said that for too long, residents have assumed government services are provided without responsibility on their part. He noted that many have ignored instructions on proper waste management, collection of fees, and maintenance of public infrastructure, leaving the government with no choice but to enforce compliance rigorously.

The minister stressed that the enforcement will be uncompromising, signaling that defaulters could face sanctions including fines, closure of non-compliant businesses, and other measures to ensure adherence to FCTA regulations.

Wike’s warning reflects a zero-tolerance approach to lawlessness and disobedience in Abuja, underlining his determination to uphold the rule of law and ensure that public directives are respected.
