Peter Obi arrived in Madrid, Spain, on Friday, 15th November, and immediately began a series of high-level meetings focused on strengthening international partnerships and unlocking fresh opportunities for Nigeria’s future. Shortly after, he attended the Reimagining Nigeria Symposium 2025 themed “A Journey to Development,” where he delivered a strongly worded message on national values, economic direction, and civic responsibility.
Speaking at the event, Obi emphasized that Nigeria’s greatest untapped strength remains agriculture. He noted that with vast arable land and an energetic young population, the country has everything required to become a global food powerhouse. According to him, Nigeria has “no business being one of the hungriest and poorest nations in the world.”
Obi further stressed the urgent need for Nigeria to break away from a culture that glorifies shortcuts, questionable wealth, and criminality. He insisted that no nation can progress on foundations that undermine integrity, urging citizens and leaders alike to embrace transparency, hard work, and genuinely built enterprises.

The former Anambra Governor expressed optimism about the rising wave of national advocacy, insisting that rebuilding Nigeria cannot be the responsibility of leaders alone. He called on Nigerians everywhere to use their voices and platforms to demand accountability, uphold good governance, and promote the values necessary for national rebirth.
Obi concluded that Nigeria’s journey to true development goes beyond policies — it depends on the collective resolve to do things the right way. He affirmed that a more productive, united, and globally competitive Nigeria is attainable if citizens work together. View, More,
