In a report by NIGERIAN TRIBUNE on Saturday November 15 2025, Sheikh Abubakar Gumi, a prominent Islamic cleric from Kaduna, recently alleged that some Christian communities in Nigeria’s Middle Belt are faking mass killings by burying empty coffins and sharing misleading videos to create the impression of a genocide.

This claim sparked outrage among Christian leaders, especially Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo from Plateau State. He expressed deep disappointment, calling the accusation hurtful and disrespectful to families who have lost loved ones in real attacks.

Reverend Dachomo challenged Sheikh Gumi to visit the actual mass grave sites in Plateau State to verify the truth for himself. He said the graves could be opened in the presence of security officials to confirm that they contain real victims.

He emphasized that such serious claims should not be made without evidence and warned that legal action could be taken if Gumi fails to prove his allegations.

“Let him come; we will tell our youths to dig the ground and remove those coffins to see whether they are empty or not. Let him come practically. We will assemble security personnel, including the GOC, to witness it,” he said. View, More,
