The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has spoken about the altercation between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and some military personnel who blocked him from accessing a disputed land in Abuja.

According to a report by Punch on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Matawalle said Wike had called the Chief of Defence Staff to complain about the disputed land and the Defence Chief advised him to wait for an investigation before taking any action. However, he said Wike did not follow this advice and went straight to the site to confront the officers there

Matawalle stated that as a leader, Wike should have shown patience and allowed the investigation to be completed before taking any step. He explained that even after the Chief of Naval Staff also assured Wike that an inquiry would be conducted, the FCT Minister still went ahead to visit the location. In his words: “I gathered that he called the Chief of Defence Staff, who advised him to wait for an investigation. However, he did not wait and instead went straight to the site”. View, More,
