Chioma Ifemeludike, who ran as the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate in the recently concluded Anambra State governorship election, has revealed that she personally saw voters being paid in cash right at a polling station.

During her interview on TVC from 14:20, Ifemeludike explained that she went to one of the wards without any security or crowd, so nobody recognised her as a candidate. She said some individuals were openly giving money to people to vote for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

She disclosed that the same people tried to induce her too. They offered her three thousand naira to cast her vote for APGA, unaware that she was actually the AAC governorship candidate. According to her, they told her to come to a specific corner after voting to collect the cash.

In her exact words: “I have evidence. They actually wanted to pay me for my vote because they didn’t know who I was. I walked into one of the wards; they couldn’t identify me because I didn’t come with convoy or entourage, so they didn’t know I was a candidate. They came to me and said, ‘When you finish voting, just walk over here and collect your money.’”

Ifemeludike stressed that the vote buyers operated freely because she blended in with regular voters. She arrived alone, dressed simply, and queued like everyone else, which allowed her to witness the transaction firsthand. The moment they approached her with the money, she realised how bold and organised the inducement had become.

She stated that the same group kept moving from person to person, handing out cash and directing voters where to pick up their payment once they thumb-printed the ballot. Because she kept her identity hidden, they treated her like any other voter and openly revealed their plan.

Ifemeludike said the experience left her shocked at how normalised vote buying had become at that particular polling unit. People were no longer hiding; they were calling voters aside in broad daylight and telling them exactly how much they would receive for voting APGA.

She emphasised that she has video and audio proof of everything that happened, including the moment they offered her the 3,000 naira. According to her, the evidence clearly shows the faces of those distributing the money and the exact instructions they gave. View, More,
