In a recent interview shared by Trust TV from 7:27, Obidients General, Ikenna Azomchine, offered an in-depth perspective on the outcome of the just concluded Anambra governorship election, which saw Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) emerge victorious.
Azomchine clarified that the Obidient movement’s support for Soludo was not an act of disloyalty to Peter Obi but rather a demonstration of the group’s guiding principles—competence, credibility, and performance. He noted that while Peter Obi remains a respected leader and moral compass for the movement, their loyalty is not automatic or transferable to anyone he endorses.
According to him, “If Peter Obi was running for governor, that’s a different scenario; Moghalu is not Peter Obi.” He explained that the Obidient network assessed all candidates based on merit and found Soludo to possess the leadership qualities and developmental track record they seek in any political figure.
Azomchine dismissed claims that the movement acted out of defiance, stressing that their decision was rooted in conviction rather than politics. He added that the outcome of the election should serve as a reminder that the Obidient movement transcends party lines and remains focused on promoting good governance and accountability across Nigeria’s political landscape.
