In an interview with AIT from 1:17:04, political analyst Dr. Lemmy Ughegbe shared his perspective on Sheikh Gumi’s recent comments regarding U.S. President Donald Trump’s alleged threat to invade Nigeria to stop the killings of Christians. Ughegbe clarified that Trump’s statement was not about attacking Muslims, Christians, or bombing Nigeria, but rather about ending terrorism in the country.
Dr. Ughegbe further questioned the motives of certain organizations that appear to take sides in matters involving terrorism and national security. According to him, the tendency of some groups to defend extremists under the guise of kinship raises serious concerns about their true intentions. He made these remarks in response to Sheikh Gumi’s controversial statement describing terrorists as our brothers and children.
According to him, “If you look at Trump’s tweet, Trump did not say he is coming to attack Muslims; Trump did not say he is coming to attack Christians or to bomb Nigeria. His tweet says he is coming to ensure that he takes out all terrorists. The way some of these organizations come out to seemingly take sides makes you begin to suspect what their real motive is. You see, Sheikh Gumi, he has continued again. Sheikh Gumi, who is the Islamic cleric many people had respected for so long, is evolving; he is unmasking himself every day. The recent statement attributed to him is, ‘I will not allow Trump to come into our forest and kill our children,’ meaning that these terrorists are our brothers and our children.” View, More,
