Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has recounted his deep connection with the University of Lagos, describing it as both the foundation of his academic achievements and spiritual journey.
“University of Lagos, that’s my university,” Adeboye told his congregation. “This was my root for several years, and University of Lagos, you can’t fully understand.”
In the video from 03:04:30, he revealed that he earned multiple degrees from the institution, marking significant milestones in his academic career. “I have three degrees from the University of Lagos. I have MSE; I’m the first MSE in Mathematics of that university. I have PhD in Mathematics from that same university. I have DSC honorary degree from the University of Lagos,” he explained.
Beyond academics, Adeboye shared that his spiritual life was profoundly shaped while at the university. “It was while I was in the University of Lagos that I got born again. It was while I was in the University of Lagos that I got ordained. It was in the University of Lagos I had the call of God,” he said.
Adeboye emphasized that the university played a pivotal role in molding both his intellect and faith, calling it his “root” and a place of life-defining experiences.
His testimony serves as an inspiration to students and believers alike, illustrating how dedication to both education and spiritual growth can shape a person’s future. Adeboye’s words highlight the importance of nurturing one’s academic and spiritual callings simultaneously, and the University of Lagos remains central to his personal story of transformation and divine purpose.
