Human rights activist, Dele Farotimi, has questioned why Senator Ned Nwoko has the right to allegedly detain Regina Daniels’ brother, Sammy. Nwoko initially explained that he had allegedly detained him on accounts of violence and for aiding and abetting Regina’s alleged drug addiction.
However, Regina cried out, revealing that he is apparently trying to force her to return to him. Following this, many netizens have chosen to ignore the issue, with some questioning whether it is any of their business. Others have decided to remain silent because Regina allegedly mocked protesters during her time as Nwoko’s wife and often flaunted cash and luxury items.
Dele Farotimi, however, stated that once the police are involved in oppression, it becomes the business of every Nigerian. Taking to his official X page, he wrote:
“The police is deployed, a ‘CITIZEN’ is in prison, because of something that is NOT our business.”
He queried whether Ned Nwoko’s father owns the Nigerian Police, wondering why he had the power to arrest a citizen simply because he is a Senator representing the Anioma district.
Farotimi further explained that despite the people and emotions involved, injustice to one is injustice to all. He warned that tolerating injustice today will only allow it to come back to harm others later. He added:
“If we tolerate this naked deployment of power against one, what stops its deployment against ANOTHER? Don’t be flippant in my space, I am NOT frivolous.”
According to Dele Farotimi, Nwoko’s marital issues with Regina became Nigeria’s business the moment he allegedly used the police to detain someone using his influence as a Senator. View, More,
