Maj. Gen. Henry Ayoola, a former Commander of the Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven, has stated that the current government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not be blamed for the ongoing security problems in the country. Ayoola said Tinubu’s administration has shown honest and determined efforts to end terrorism and violence across Nigeria, but the situation is very complex and difficult to handle.
According to a report by Punch on Sunday, November 9, 2025, General Ayoola said there might be people in the government who are sabotaging the fight against terrorism. He said former President Goodluck Jonathan once complained that some members of his own government were secretly supporting Boko Haram. In his words: “If you remember, President Jonathan once cried out that some members of his cabinet were also supporting Boko Haram”
Ayoola also spoke against the unfair use of blasphemy laws and the continued marginalization of some Nigerians. He said any harm or discrimination against ethnic, racial, or religious groups fits the international definition of genocide and must be condemned because all lives matter. View, More,
