In a recent interview on News Central TV from 9:33, human rights activist Meddy Oluto explained the context behind U.S. President Donald Trump’s comments regarding alleged genocide in Nigeria.

Oluto revealed, “He saw a video that a pastor made, in which he was crying and calling on Donald Trump for help.” According to Oluto, this emotional appeal played a significant role in shaping the President’s reaction, drawing global attention to the ongoing violence and insecurity in Nigeria. He emphasized that while the video highlighted the plight of Christian communities, the crisis extends to all citizens affected by violent attacks.

He stressed that the situation in Nigeria is complex, involving terrorism, banditry, and communal violence rather than being strictly religious. “The problem is not about Christians versus Muslims. Innocent lives are being lost across communities, and the scale of suffering is alarming. This is why some describe it as a genocide, not because of religion, but because of systematic targeting and neglect,” Oluto said.

Oluto also criticized local authorities for failing to respond effectively to repeated attacks. “If the government acted decisively, these tragedies could be reduced. Yet, attacks continue, leaving people vulnerable and communities destabilized,” he added.

He concluded by urging both Nigerian leaders and international partners to focus on concrete solutions. “The video is a wake-up call. We need urgent action to stop the violence, protect lives, and restore peace. Every life matters, and this is a fight we must win together,” Oluto said. View, More,
