A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Arch Uche Rochas, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, criticized international media organizations for what he described as biased reporting on Nigeria’s security challenges. Rochas made the remarks in a post on his X account (formerly Twitter).

In his statement, he accused BBC and Al Jazeera of maintaining “a long history of biased reporting and selective narratives, particularly on issues related to global conflicts and security.

He argued that President Donald Trump, who has recently spoken about attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria, “is smarter than both of them” in recognizing the situation.

His comments were in response to a report by BBC News Africa, which questioned the accuracy of data cited by Trump.

The BBC report stated: “Donald Trump says thousands of Christians are being killed in Nigeria by Islamist militants – where has he got the numbers from? The BBC has found that some of the data being relied on to come to this conclusion are difficult to verify.”

Rochas suggested that the concerns raised were not new, claiming that “these networks have a long history of biased reporting and selective narratives.”

He further referenced past scrutiny surrounding Al Jazeera’s field operations, saying “just as Al Jazeera has faced questions in the past about some of its field correspondents’ affiliations with Hamas and other bad groups, it wouldn’t be surprising if similar biases were present in BBC Africa’s coverage.”

He added that if such affiliations are not demonstrable, it remains possible that “many within those circles at least show sympathy toward those who undermine peace and stability.”

Rochas insisted that ongoing efforts to confront extremist violence in Nigeria are already underway.

According to him, “every sponsor and enabler of terrorism in Nigeria will be brought to justice. No amount of compromised journalism or politically motivated investigations by BBC or anyone else can stop that.”

He concluded by asserting that “the mission to free Nigeria from terrorism has already begun, and this time, nothing can derail it.” View, More,
