Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has raised concern over recent tensions between Nigeria and the United States after President Donald Trump labeled Nigeria a “Countries of Particular Concern” (CPC) over alleged attacks on Christians. Falana said this designation could have serious consequences, including possible military action, but he believes it is not justified.

In the video from 0.37, He explained that global powers like China and the European Union have stated there is no clear evidence of Christian genocide in Nigeria. Falana warned that if the US decides to launch a military operation, it would not be simple. Unlike Iraq or Iran, Nigeria has armed groups scattered across the country, making any strike complex and dangerous.

Falana also revealed that there have been attempts by foreign powers to set up a military base in Nigeria and to use the country as a dumping ground for deported people, but the Nigerian government refused. He sees these pressures as part of a larger effort to interfere in the country’s affairs.

According to him, the best way to protect Nigeria is for the government to address the economic struggles of its citizens. When many people live in poverty while a few enjoy wealth, it creates frustration and unrest, which could make the country vulnerable to foreign manipulation.

Falana urged that mobilizing Nigerians to defend their country starts with improving living conditions.
