In an interview on News Central TV from 2:28, renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, has criticized U.S. President Donald Trump over what he described as growing Islamophobia and bias against Muslims in America.
The cleric expressed concern that anti-Muslim sentiments are being encouraged at the highest levels of leadership, posing a threat to global peace and unity.
Gumi referenced the ongoing political tension in New York City, where a Muslim mayoral candidate has reportedly faced hostility due to his faith.
He argued that such incidents expose the hypocrisy of Western democracy, which preaches freedom of religion but practices discrimination against Muslims.
In his words, “Look at the election in New York City whereby a Muslim mayor coming out, people want him, and Trump is also threatening that he will cut off funds from New York City just because he is a Muslim. With this Islamophobia, how can I accept Trump to come into this country? He is just coming here to fight Muslims not fighting terrorists.”
The cleric warned that President Trump’s rhetoric and policies could further polarize societies and incite unnecessary religious tension both in the U.S. and abroad.
He urged Muslim leaders around the world to remain vigilant and united in defending the image of Islam against deliberate misrepresentation. View, More,
