In a video shared on Facebook from 17:00, Asari Dokubo, a prominent chieftain of the Kalabari people, reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent declaration of intent to intervene in Nigeria over the alleged killings of Christians. Dokubo countered the narrative, alleging that Muslims have also fallen victim to violence at the hands of Christians. He questioned whether the lack of attention to these incidents was due to Muslims not publicly speaking out about their own losses.
The former Niger Delta militant further argued that if every group truthfully shared their experiences, the world would realize that the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), have also been responsible for the killing of Muslims.
According to him, “Aisha and her three children were killed in Imo State… Imam Hasan from Trailer Park was killed at Obibo with two other Muslims. Is it because the Muslims are not shooting that Muslims are being killed? If everybody tells their story the way they are, I have not been disturbed, but that does not mean that Christians do not kill Muslims.
