Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has disclosed that his first son, Jordan despite being trained as a lawyer, has chosen to become a farmer, a decision that initially angered him.
Wike made the revelation during an interview on Channels Television from 0:59, where he spoke about youth choices, self-determination, and the need for parents to respect their children’s ambitions.
“Can I tell you something? My first son is a lawyer,” Wike said. “Do you know what he has chosen? He said, no, I’m not going to practice. I was angry. He said, I want to be a farmer. I said, what do you mean by this? He said, no, this is what I want to do.”
The former Rivers State governor said he was initially upset because he had expected his son to pursue a legal career after years of study and financial investment. However, he later came to accept his son’s decision, acknowledging that the younger generation must be allowed to chart their own paths.
Wike described the episode as a learning experience, noting that it reminded him that fulfillment is not limited to traditional professions. “At first, I couldn’t understand why someone would leave law for farming,” he admitted, “but I realized it’s not about what I want, it’s about what gives him satisfaction.” View, More,
