A Former Chairman of Emohua LGA in Rivers State, Chidi Lloyd has expressed his disappointment with lawyers running commentaries on the Appeal Court judgment. He stating that their opinions are unwarranted since they were neither involved in the case nor filed any processes.

He also accused parts of the media of exacerbating the problem by giving these lawyers a platform to voice their unwarranted opinions. He highlighted that the Rivers State House of Assembly controversy began after the state assembly was bombed. He identified that as at that time, there were no discussions regarding the speaker or the status of the assembly members. He also stated that Honourable Martins Amaewhule had suspended the Hon Edison Ehie who purportedly declared their seat vacant immediately after the Assembly was bombed.

He said in an interview with TVC From 2:16, ‘I’m ashamed that you have lawyers who are not parties to the suit running commentaries on a matter. They are not part of the suit and neither did they file any processes. It does appear that part of the media are also causing the problem by giving them the audience.

Now we need to understand certain things. This whole issues started after the state assembly was was bombed, there was no commentary as to who was speaker or who has lost his seat. The Assembly sat on a Monday and they immediately suspended the House Leader, Honourable Edison Ehie and two others. The leadership of the House under Martin Amaewhule accused Edison Ehie for being part of the bombing plot of the state assembly.

Then this continued until 11th of December when Honourable Martin’s Amaewhule and 25 others announced their defection on the floor of the House to the All Progressive Congress. As at this time, there was no question to the speakership of Martins Amaewhule.”……Sēe _ Morē
