US-based Nigerian lawyer Emmanuel Ogebe has alleged that President Donald Trump is angry over the kidnapping of an American citizen in Niger and has issued a warning against the hostage being brought into Nigeria.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV from 6:57, Ogebe explained the implications of Trump’s position on the recent abduction. “A few days ago, an American was abducted in Niger. And what Trump is saying, in effect, is that if this guy ends up being brought to Nigeria again by the terrorists who abducted him, ‘I will take action.’ So the likelihood—what it might mean—is that the location where this person is found will be held liable.”
He called on the Nigeria security adviser and security agencies to help free the detained American citizen. “My advice to whoever is in touch with these people—I know that Nigeria’s NSA has been involved in ransoming people from bandits—let that American be found, and returned peacefully so that there will be no problem,” he said.
Ogebe cited a precedent from Trump’s first term involving another American hostage situation. He recalled the case of Philip Walton, who was abducted in Niger and subsequently moved to Sokoto State in Nigeria.
According to the lawyer, US Navy SEAL operatives launched a raid on the terrorists’ hideout, eliminated six terrorists, and successfully rescued their citizen. View, More,
