The Senior Pastor of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has cautioned Christians to stop singing songs that ask God to “come down,” describing such lyrics as outdated and contrary to New Testament revelation.

Speaking during a recent sermon streamed on YouTube from 1:04:06, Pastor Ibiyeomie explained that while in the Old Testament God dwelt in physical tabernacles, the New Testament reveals that He now lives inside every believer through the Holy Spirit.

“I was meditating early this morning, and deep understanding came,” he said. “In the Old Testament, God dwelt in tabernacles. He visited them. But in the New Testament, He dwells in us. Paul understood this and said that God is not somewhere in the sky—He is in you.”

The clergyman emphasized that believers should recognize the indwelling presence of God rather than seeing Him as distant or external. According to him, this understanding transforms the way Christians should worship and pray.

“You know we used to sing, ‘Oh God, come down,’ but that’s an old song,” he declared. “God doesn’t come down anymore. You should say, ‘Oh God, stir up in me,’ because He already lives in you. When you praise Him, you stir Him up.”

Pastor Ibiyeomie noted that this spiritual stirring through praise can release divine power and bring healing, deliverance, and victory over life’s challenges. “Do you know that with praise you can conquer cancer?” he asked. “It can’t stay in you when God rises up inside you. Let God arise, and His enemies will scatter.”

He explained that evil cannot remain in the same space where God is active within a believer, citing the example of Jesus Christ whose divine presence caused demons to flee wherever He went. “When Jesus moved, God moved. When He spoke, God spoke,” he said. “That’s how you are now. When God rises in you, everything evil must go.”

Pastor Ibiyeomie concluded by urging believers never to stop praising God, saying, “Don’t ever stop praising. Praise stirs up God within you, and when He rises, your victory is certain.” View, More,
