Paul Odu, a 24-year-old resident of Lagos, has stated that his mother, Temitope, died just a day after his father allegedly beat her up. He said the incident happened shortly after his mother returned from Abuja, where she had attended her call-to-bar ceremony as a newly qualified lawyer.
According to a report by Punch on Saturday, November 1, 2025, Odu said there was a time his father fasted and prayed for three days, loudly asking God to make his (Odu) mother die. He said that his mother never reacted angrily to those prayers. He said she instead told his father that what he was doing was wrong and that she had done nothing to deserve such treatment
Odu said after his father beat his mother severely one night, he found her lifeless the next day. He said he knocked on his father’s door to inform him, but his father refused to respond or open the door. He added that he ran out to call for help, and when his mother’s friend came and checked her, she confirmed that she was dead. He said, “There was a time when my dad fasted and prayed that my mum should die. He didn’t eat for three days but prayed aloud every morning that his wife should die.” View, More,
