In a recent interview shared by Arise News from 7:25, the National Coordinator of the Coalition of Southern Groups and Human Rights Activist, Oladotun Hassan, strongly condemned the recent protest demanding the release of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, describing it as a politically motivated attempt to destabilize the nation.
Hassan argued that the protest was not in the interest of democracy but rather an orchestrated effort to undermine the judiciary and incite unrest across the country. According to him, the presence of legal practitioners at such rallies raises ethical concerns and sends a wrong signal about respect for the rule of law.
“This protest is against the judiciary, and I’m very much disappointed seeing a lawyer at that same rally; it is prejudice,” he stated firmly.
He further warned that politicizing ongoing judicial matters could erode public confidence in the justice system and encourage disobedience to court orders. Hassan emphasized that the right to protest must be exercised within the confines of the law and not used as a tool to intimidate state institutions.
He urged Nigerians to allow the courts to conclude their proceedings without pressure from the streets, stressing that due process and lawful engagement remain the best paths toward justice and national stability. See, More, Here>>>
