Senator Shehu Sani, a renowned human rights activist and former Kaduna central senatorial district lawmaker has taken to his official X handle to address the controversies that trailed the scene from the protest organized by human rights activist Omoyele Sowore in Abuja on Monday. According to his statements which drew widespread attention from the general public, he pointed out that a protester who runs for his life was not a coward.

Many were left stunned after renowned human rights activist and former presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore was captured running to safety during the protest organized in support of the detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu on Monday October 20th, 2025.

The moment, which drew massive reactions from different quarters after footages from the scene went viral across various social media platforms, drew mockery as many believed he was ill prepared for the demonstration.

Reacting, Senator Shehu Sani, a renowned human rights activist and former federal lawmaker in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, defended the decision of the activist to scamper to safety.

According to his statements, he pointed out that a protester who decided to run was not a coward, rather, acted wisely. He used the analogy, ‘he who leave a fight, lives to fight another day’, to drive down his point.
