US President Donald Trump appeared to downplay reports of Hamas executing dozens of Gazans accused of collaborating with Israel, describing those killed as “very bad gang members.”

According to Times of Israel, Trump said he was “not too bothered” by the Islamist group’s actions following the recent ceasefire in Gaza.

“They did take out a couple of gangs that were very bad… and they killed a number of gang members,” he remarked.

“That didn’t bother me much, to be honest with you.

That’s okay. It’s a couple of very bad gangs.

It’s no different than other countries like Venezuela [that have] sent their gangs [into the US].”

The president’s comments came after reports that Hamas executed more than 30 people in Gaza as part of its campaign to reassert control following Israel’s withdrawal and the return of hostages earlier this week.

Human rights groups have condemned the killings as extrajudicial executions, warning they signal a broader crackdown on dissent in the war-torn enclave.

Trump’s remarks drew swift reactions from both allies and critics.

Supporters framed them as part of his tough stance on terrorism, while detractors accused him of justifying violence and overlooking human rights abuses.

The executions reportedly targeted individuals accused of spying for Israel or undermining Hamas rule.

Observers say the group has faced internal pressure after a two-year war that devastated Gaza and led to the deaths of tens of thousands.

Meanwhile, Israel continues to press for the return of the bodies of slain hostages still held by Hamas.

Families and supporters gathered in Tel Aviv’s Hostages Square on Tuesday, urging renewed international action to bring closure to bereaved families.
