A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jonathan Vatsa, has said that the family of the late General Mamman Vatsa has long been calling on the Federal Government to revisit and clarify the case against him.
Speaking in an interview with Channels Television from 3:00, he recalled visiting former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the Presidential Villa in 1999, alongside members of the late General’s family, to discuss the charges against Mamman Vatsa. Jonathan Vatsa revealed that Obasanjo had promised at the time to look into the matter, but the promise was never fulfilled.
“I can assure you that we have been crying out and making complaints since 1999 during Obasanjo, when the wife was alive, myself, and the children.
“We went to the villa with a letter and Obasanjo promised us that he was going to look into it. That regime eventually came and gone.”
He also stated that they contacted the previous administration led by former President Muhammadu Buhari, but no positive results were achieved until the emergence of President Bola Tinubu.
Vatsa expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for addressing the matter and granting a posthumous pardon to Mamman Vatsa. He added that the decision has brought joy to the late General’s family and wiped away their long-standing sorrow.
“We have had a lot of views about this pardon by Mr. President. I want to use this medium once again to say a very big thank you to Mr. President. He has cleaned our tears and restored joy back to us as a family. The community back home, they are all happy, everywhere is celebration.” See, More, Here>>>
