Idongesit Etim, a lawyer and youth ambassador, discussed President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms introduced on May 29, 2023. He explained that the removal of the fuel subsidy and the decision to float the naira initially caused concern among Nigerians due to rising costs and uncertainty.

In an interview shared by Trust TV from 6:44, Etim noted that many citizens were worried about how these changes would affect their daily lives. However, he emphasized that the president’s goal was to free up government funds for national development and infrastructure.

Over the following two years, Etim observed that public understanding improved. He said more Nigerians began to see the long-term benefits of the reforms and recognized the intention behind them.

His words,

“President Tinubu on the 29th of May 2023 in eagle square removed subsidy and went after floated the naira and a lot of Nigerians became worried. But in two years he has been able to sustain that trust, in the sense that while I remove this subsidy while I floated this exchange so that we can have more monies to do more development.
