According to a report by Al Jazeera, on October 11, 2025, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan to assess preparations for receiving hostages expected to return from Gaza early next week under a ceasefire agreement.

Netanyahu toured the facility and “praised the medical teams for their readiness to welcome the hostages and their families,” according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The visit comes as Israel prepares for the anticipated release of captives held in Gaza as part of the recently announced truce deal.

The prime minister was accompanied by several senior officials during the inspection, including Gal Hirsch, the government’s hostage pointman, Netanyahu’s chief of staff Tzachi Braverman, and the premier’s Military Secretary Major General Roman Gofman.

“During the visit, he met with IDF soldiers wounded in the war, telling them: ‘You are heroes. You saved the State of Israel and lifted our spirits. I’m moved by the strength and resilience you show in your personal and national recovery. Seeing you fills me with power and endless appreciation,'” the PMO said.

Sheba Medical Center, one of Israel’s largest and most advanced hospitals, has been designated as a primary facility for treating returning hostages.

Medical staff have been preparing specialized care protocols to address the physical and psychological trauma the captives may have experienced during their months in captivity.

The hostages are expected to be released in phases beginning early next week as part of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

The deal reportedly includes provisions for the gradual return of Israeli captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and a temporary halt to military operations in Gaza.

Israeli officials have been coordinating with medical professionals, psychologists, and rehabilitation specialists to ensure comprehensive care for the returning hostages.

Families of the captives have been briefed on the reception procedures and reunification process.
