According to a report by The Times Of Israel, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned Israel for conducting overnight airstrikes that resulted in the death of at least one person and injuries to several others.

“Once again, southern Lebanon has been the target of a heinous Israeli aggression against civilian installations — without justification or pretext,” Aoun said in a statement. “The seriousness of this latest attack lies in the fact that it comes after the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.” His remarks reflected anger over what Lebanon sees as a violation of its sovereignty and a potential threat to regional stability.

The Health Ministry reported that the Israeli strikes hit the Al-Msayleh area, killing one civilian and injuring seven others. Lebanon’s National News Agency confirmed that Israeli fighter jets carried out around 10 raids in the region, striking several sites that contained bulldozers and excavators. Residents in nearby towns described loud explosions and widespread damage to property, deepening fears of renewed conflict across the border.

In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the operation targeted facilities where Hezbollah was allegedly storing heavy construction machinery. The IDF claimed that the militant group intended to use the equipment “for rebuilding its terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon.” Israeli military officials stated that the strikes were aimed at preventing Hezbollah from reestablishing operational positions near the border area.

The attack comes shortly after a ceasefire was reached in Gaza, raising concerns that escalating tensions could spill over into Lebanon. Lebanese officials have urged the international community to condemn the assault and hold Israel accountable for what they describe as continued violations of Lebanese territory.
