According to a report by CNN, on October 9, 2025, US President Donald Trump praised the US military strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities earlier this year, claiming they were crucial in enabling progress toward a ceasefire agreement.

Trump asserted that the June strikes significantly weakened Iran’s nuclear program, preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

“I think the attack was very important on Iran, because let’s say that didn’t happen, they’d probably, by now, have a nuclear weapon, numerous nuclear weapons,” Trump said.

He suggested that without the strikes, any peace deal would have been overshadowed by the looming threat of Iranian nuclear arms.

Despite Trump’s claims, US intelligence assessments have indicated that the strikes were less effective than stated.

Iran has consistently denied intentions to develop nuclear weapons and insists that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

Trump also said that Iran now wants to work toward peace and has expressed support for the recent deal.

“Now they’ve informed us, and they acknowledge that they are totally in favor of this deal. They think it’s a great thing,” he said, promising continued cooperation with Tehran.

Earlier statements from Iran’s foreign ministry have expressed support for efforts that focus on “stopping the genocidal war” in Gaza, indicating alignment with broader regional ceasefire initiatives.

Trump’s comments come amid ongoing tensions and complex negotiations in the Middle East, where the security concerns tied to Iran’s nuclear capabilities remain a major factor in diplomatic efforts.

The US administration appears hopeful that military action combined with diplomatic engagement might lead to reduced conflict and greater stability in the region. See, More, Here>>>
