Maxwell Opara, lead counsel to detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has revealed that prosecutors are relying primarily on speeches made by his client as evidence of terrorism, raising questions about the strength of the case against him.

During an interview on SYMFONI TV, Opara disclosed details of courtroom proceedings, explaining how the prosecution has justified the terrorism charges leveled against Kanu.

“They asked you and you said he is making speeches. Speeches of what? And the speeches he made, luckily enough they played it in the court, court listened to it,” Opara stated, describing the prosecution’s presentation of evidence.

The lawyer’s comments suggest that the government’s case against Kanu heavily depends on recorded speeches, which were played during court sessions for judicial review. However, Opara’s questioning tone indicates skepticism about whether speeches alone constitute sufficient evidence for terrorism charges.
