According to a report by The Times Of Israel, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar has praised the Gaza ceasefire agreement, describing it as a demonstration of Israel’s strong moral and ethical character. He commended Israel for remaining committed to securing the release of its hostages, calling this a defining moment for the nation. Sa’ar expressed optimism about the deal’s approval, saying he looks forward to voting in favor of it later today.
In a post written in Hebrew on X, Sa’ar stated that, alongside its military accomplishments over the past two years of conflict, “Israel also passed the moral and ethical test of its commitment to the release of its hostages.” He emphasized that this moral resilience reflects Israel’s dedication both to its citizens and to universal values, even amid the harsh realities of war.
“I do not think there is any other nation that would have similarly stood such a test,” Sa’ar declared, noting that Israel’s perseverance was evident not only in its continuous efforts to free the captives but also in how the war itself was conducted. According to him, the government’s actions throughout the conflict have balanced moral responsibility with the pursuit of national security.
The foreign minister went on to commend the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former U.S. President Donald Trump for their roles in reaching the ceasefire deal. He credited their cooperation and diplomatic engagement as key factors in achieving this outcome. However, Sa’ar cautioned that “Israel’s challenges are not over,” stressing that the agreement does not mark the end of Israel’s mission or its strategic objectives.
“Israel did not give up on any of the war’s objectives, as set by the security cabinet,” he affirmed. Sa’ar explained that all of those goals are “in practice, included in the Trump plan,” which he said reflects both military and diplomatic priorities. He reiterated Israel’s determination to ensure that Hamas no longer governs Gaza or threatens Israeli citizens.
“We have not given up on ending Hamas’s rule in Gaza, nor on removing the threat it poses to Israel and its citizens,” Sa’ar concluded, underscoring that while the ceasefire marks a critical step toward peace, the broader struggle for Israel’s security and stability remains ongoing.
