In an interview on Signature TV from 19:39, politician Hon. Chidi Ofoegbu commended former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi for his personal integrity and financial probity.

Ofoegbu began with a gesture of respect rooted in Igbo cultural tradition. “First of all, as an Igbo man, I remove my cap for Peter Obi. That man is a great man,” he stated.

The politician acknowledged both Obi’s strengths and limitations as a presidential aspirant. “Peter Obi prepared himself for this presidency in some areas, but there are areas he didn’t prepare himself,” Ofoegbu observed.

He then highlighted what he sees as Obi’s most notable quality: his unblemished record despite intense scrutiny. “You can imagine a man that everybody is speaking against in this present government, they have not been able to find one thing that they will nail him with. He is an upright man,” the politician said.

Ofoegbu illustrated Obi’s meticulous approach to documentation and transparency. “This man has stood his ground, sometimes he carries his documents in his bag, if EFCC comes, ‘When did you buy this house in London?’ He shows them, they would see that he bought it before joining politics,” he explained, referencing potential inquiries from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The comments underscore Obi’s reputation for financial discipline and transparency, qualities that have become central to his political brand. While Ofoegbu suggested Obi may have lacked preparation in certain aspects of his presidential campaign, the politician’s remarks emphasize that personal integrity and clean financial records have made Obi resilient against attempts to discredit him—a notable achievement in Nigeria’s often corruption-plagued political environment.
