Entrepreneur and former wife of Nollywood actor Emeka Ike, Suzanne Emma, has opened up about the harrowing experience that led her to walk away from her marriage, alleging that the actor physically assaulted her so severely that she nearly became paralyzed.
In an emotional interview with Chude Jideonwo on With Chude from 16:35, Emma recounted the incident, which she said began as a disagreement over their daughter’s health but quickly spiraled into violence. According to her, she had asked Ike for money to take their daughter to the hospital for a medical checkup, but instead of responding calmly, he allegedly lashed out in anger.
“Then he hit me,” Emma recalled. “I held his hand and said, ‘You can’t keep beating me up,’ but he just turned me over and struck me at the back of my neck. Immediately, I lost all sensation in my body. I fell to the floor—I couldn’t feel my arms or any part of me, though I could still see and hear.”
Emma said that despite her pleas for him to stop, Ike continued hitting her as she cried out that another blow could kill her. The assault, she claimed, took place in front of their children and his personal assistant.
“I kept telling him, ‘Emeka, if you hit me one more time, I will die,’” she said tearfully. “I could only see stars. I could talk, hear, and see—but I couldn’t feel anything.”
According to Emma, after the incident, Ike walked out, leaving her on the floor in pain and unable to move. She said it took some time before she regained enough strength to gather her children and leave the house, marking the moment she decided to end the marriage for good.
Emma’s revelation adds to ongoing conversations around domestic violence in celebrity marriages, shedding light on the physical and emotional trauma that survivors often endure in silence before finding the courage to speak out. See, More, Here>>>
