According to a report by Daily Trust on Thursday, October 2, 2025, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has made some remarks on Chief Olabode George, describing him as a political lightweight with little or no electoral value in the state.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, the party said George’s record at the polls speaks for itself and has consistently shown that he cannot deliver even his immediate constituency.

According to Oladejo, George has never won his polling unit, ward, or local government for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) throughout his long political career. This, the APC argued, is evidence that the PDP stalwart lacks grassroots appeal and has been unable to translate his frequent outbursts into tangible political victories where it matters most.

“For the record, Chief George is a political paperweight in Lagos – a man who has never won his polling unit, ward, or local government for his party,” Oladejo said.

The APC maintained that George’s political relevance is largely self-proclaimed, as his influence in Lagos politics has dwindled over the years.

While he often positions himself as a voice of the opposition, the ruling party insists his inability to command electoral success exposes him as little more than a “political paperweight.”

Oladejo noted that George’s recent defense of former President Goodluck Jonathan was another attempt to project influence where none exists.

He stressed that Nigerians should judge leaders not by their loud criticisms but by their capacity to win support from the people they claim to represent.

The Lagos APC also emphasized that George’s failure to secure victories for his party in his own base reflects a deeper problem within the PDP.

According to Oladejo, a man who cannot convince those closest to him to support his platform should not be taken seriously when making sweeping statements about national governance.

Oladejo further argued that George’s lack of influence at the grassroots level makes his criticisms of President Bola Tinubu and past APC administrations hollow. He insisted that true political weight is measured by the ability to mobilize people and win elections, not by endless commentary in the press.

The spokesperson added that George’s long career in politics has been marked more by controversies and shifting loyalties than by solid achievements. He described him as a figure who has become a permanent fixture in opposition politics but without the results that should justify such visibility.

The APC maintained that Lagosians are well aware of George’s track record and continue to reject him at the polls. Oladejo concluded that the former PDP chieftain’s influence is largely overstated and that his consistent electoral failures underscore why his opinions should not be given undue weight.

Oladejo insisted that the nation has moved past the era of PDP misrule and is focused on reforms under Tinubu. It said Nigerians should not allow themselves to be distracted by individuals like Chief George, whose inability to deliver results at home speaks louder than any criticism he makes on the national stage.
