Shock and grief continue to trail the death of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a presenter with ARISE News, who lost her life during a robbery attack at her residence in Katampe, Abuja. The incident occurred around 3:00 am when armed robbers invaded the estate. They overpowered the security guards and raided several apartments, carting away vehicles, laptops, and other valuables.
In a video shared by Trust TV from 1:41, according to accounts from a resident identified as Tijani, the attackers were heavily armed with ammunition more sophisticated than what the local Civilian Joint Task Force could withstand. After overpowering the guards, the robbers gained access to the compound and went from flat to flat, compelling residents to surrender their belongings. Those who cooperated were reportedly left unharmed.
In the case of Somtochukwu, panic set in when the robbers entered her apartment. Unable to handle the shock of the invasion, she rushed to her balcony and jumped from the third floor. The fall tragically claimed her life.
In a surprising detail, Tijani explained that the robbers even attempted to dissuade her from jumping, urging her to remain calm. However, fear had already taken over.
The police were said to have arrived at the estate only two to three minutes after the robbers had left. By then, the young journalist’s life had been cut short.
He said, “Police came just two or three minutes after those people left. They were even begging the lady not to jump, the armed robbers.” See, More, Here>>>
