National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ajuji Ahmed has disclosed that former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was approached to join the cabinet of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during a private meeting in Paris.
Speaking in an interview on Arise News from 5:44, Ahmed explained that Kwankwaso was persuaded to consider accepting a ministerial slot but noted that the arrangement was later derailed.
“When he was invited to Paris and talked into accepting a slot in the cabinet of His Excellency Mr President, but later on, a lot of things happened,” Ahmed said.
The NNPP Chairman did not provide full details of what transpired but suggested that certain political developments led to a breakdown of the agreement. He stressed that Kwankwaso’s participation in the talks was in good faith, as the former presidential candidate remains committed to contributing to Nigeria’s progress.
Ahmed further noted that Kwankwaso continues to enjoy strong support across the country, especially in Kano and the northern states, where his political influence remains significant. He emphasized that the NNPP is focused on building a credible alternative platform that prioritizes the welfare of Nigerians.
Political observers have speculated that the Paris meeting was part of wider negotiations aimed at consolidating alliances following the 2023 elections, however, the eventual collapse of the arrangement has fueled questions about the relationship between Kwankwaso and the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Ahmed assured that despite the setback, the NNPP would remain steadfast in advancing its vision for a new Nigeria, while Kwankwaso’s political future remains a subject of keen national interest. See, More, Here>>>>
