The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed recent social media speculations about his health, insisting that he remains strong and committed to his duties.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television from 4:44, Wike expressed disappointment over what he described as the politicization of false news in Nigeria. He noted that some individuals had gone as far as spreading rumors of his death, even without any credible proof.
In a sarcastic tone, the minister said, “Very soon, I will write a letter: ‘We’re sorry; we loved him, but it’s God who gives and takes.’” He stressed that such unfounded reports only highlight how politics in Nigeria has been reduced to blackmail and cheap propaganda.
Wike pointed out that, unlike other countries where citizens respect their leaders despite political differences, Nigeria has become a place where anyone can post damaging claims about public officials without consequences. He added that the resilience of leaders lies in their ability to stay focused on their responsibilities rather than being distracted by falsehoods.
The minister assured residents of Abuja that his attention remains on delivering infrastructure projects and improving the capital city’s outlook. He maintained that despite attempts to derail his efforts, he would continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in building a modern and competitive Abuja.
Observers note that Wike’s comments serve both as a dismissal of rumors and a warning against those who seek to use misinformation as a political weapon. See, More, Here>>>>
