According to a report by Daily Post on Thursday, September 18, 2025, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has dismissed reports suggesting he suffered a heart attack while in London.
Wike explained that he only traveled abroad to take some rest, insisting that the claim was false and misleading. He expressed displeasure at those spreading the report, adding that they were only trying to create unnecessary panic.
The minister, while addressing the issue, stated that it was surprising that people could spread such information without verification.
He warned that those who fabricated the story might be the ones to suffer a heart attack.
According to him, he remained in good health and had no medical emergency during his time abroad.
Speaking in Abuja during the flag-off of the construction of Arterial Road N1 from Wuye District to Ring Road II, Wike said people often forget that leaders are also human beings who need time to rest.
He noted that the demand of public office is enormous, but it is important to create space for personal well-being.
The minister stressed that political office holders face constant pressure, and critics are always waiting for an opportunity to create false narratives.
He explained that once a leader is no longer in office, the same critics will quickly shift their attention to another person.
For that reason, he maintained that leaders must take care of themselves while they still serve.
Wike emphasized that no matter how demanding leadership may be, life must not be sacrificed for the job.
He pointed out that once a leader leaves the stage, governance continues with someone else.
He used this to justify the need for rest and balance in managing both public service and personal health.
During the Abuja road project flag-off, he reiterated his commitment to ensuring that infrastructural development in the capital city remains a priority.
He stated that despite distractions from unfounded rumours, the administration will stay focused on projects that directly impact residents.
Wike’s remarks were a direct response to recent reports claiming that he was hospitalized in London due to a heart attack.
By clarifying the situation, he reassured the public of his wellbeing and redirected attention to his official duties in the FCT.
He said: “So if the world will crumble let it crumble because one has to be alive before you satisfy all the people. You know this job we are doing, they have been waiting for you. See, More, Here>>>>
“The day you drop, they will announce some other person the next day so you must make sure while you’re working you also take time out and relax.
