According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan used strong language on Wednesday as he addressed the foundation ceremony for Turkey’s new Ministry of Foreign Affairs complex in Ankara, pledging firm resistance to what he described as forces that foment violence in the region and reiterating Ankara’s uncompromising stance on East Jerusalem.
“Let us not forget that the language of diplomacy is courtesy. But this does not mean that we will remain silent in the face of rudeness,” Erdoğan said, speaking to an audience that included senior diplomats and government officials. “We will break the back of those who seek to flood our region with blood, as we have done throughout history, and we will stand firm. We do not bow to oppression and tyrants.”
Erdoğan framed his remarks both as a rebuke to Israeli leadership directly linking his comments to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and as a broader appeal to the Muslim world. He forcefully defended Palestinian rights and cast Jerusalem as a core communal concern.
“Jerusalem is the shared cause, memory, and heritage of two billion Muslims around the world,” Erdoğan said. “We will not allow foreign hands to defile it. As Muslims, we will not take a single step back from our rights in Eastern Jerusalem. The followers of Hitler will never escape their torment.”
The president also expressed solidarity with the people of Gaza, condemning what he called “savage attacks” and promising Turkey would stand with the oppressed. “No one can prevent us from standing alongside the oppressed Gazans under Israel’s savage attacks,” he said. “Terrorism and massacre are a mental blockage. This blockage, which holds our region captive, will eventually be broken. Those who act with barbarity will drown in the blood they spill.”
Erdoğan’s speech combined appeals to historical memory and religious solidarity with pointed geopolitical rhetoric. He emphasized Turkey’s readiness to defend its interests and those of fellow Muslims, while framing his government’s posture as moral as well as strategic: “We do not bow to oppression and tyrants.” See, More, Here>>>>
