Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has stated that since the federal government removed fuel subsidy, the money shared among the three tiers of government has increased greatly. He said the statutory allocations, which are funds given to the federal, state, and local governments every month, have more than tripled compared to before the subsidy removal.

In an interview with Channels Television from 17:10, Falana said in May 2023, the three tiers of government shared 655 billion naira before the removal of fuel subsidy. He said after the removal of subsidy the statutory allocations increased. He said in July 2025, the figure rose to 1.8 trillion naira and by August 2025, it further increased to two trillion naira. This, according to him, shows a massive increase in government revenue after subsidy removal.
