The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero has criticized the former governor of Akwa Ibom state and current Senate President, Godswill Akpabio for denying the lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti a return into the National Assembly.
Joe Ajaero’s statement was contained in a statement that was released on the official X handle of NLC on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
According to CHANNELS TV, the Kogi lawmaker was prevented from resuming due to a pending case at the Court of Appeal.
In the statement that surfaced online, Joe Ajaero said denying the people of Kogi state adequate representation at the national level is an act of impunity and can lead to anarchy.
He said the Senate President also violated court order by not allowing Natasha Akpoti to enter the National Assembly after Justice Nyako’s ruling that voided her six months suspension.
The NLC President said such act should not be found in a democratic nation. He told Goodwill Akpabio to allow the Kogi lawmaker to resume her lawful duty.
Joe Ajaero said members of the Nigeria Labour Congress will not sit and allow unlawful acts to thrive in the nation.
Here is what NLC wrote on its official X handle;
“You went ahead to ignore the rulings of the Court that voided her suspension and at the expiration of your illegal suspension, you are still denying her a return is the height of impunity and morally reprehensible. This is no longer democracy”.
