One of the most heartbreaking parts of Peace’s story is that she was pregnant when she was arrested and ended up giving birth in the harsh conditions of a Malaysian prison. The joy of motherhood was quickly turned into a new form of agony.

She shared this painful memory on Brekete Family, telling the Ordinary President how her newborn baby was taken from her and sent back to Nigeria. She was left to serve her sentence while the child was handed over to the very man who had framed her.

She explained that she was still in prison when the arrangements were made through the Nigerian embassy to send the baby home. She had no say in the matter and could only watch as her child was taken away, adding another layer of trauma to her already unbearable situation.

In Peace’s words: “Two of my children are with him now, including the one I gave birth to in prison. He collected him from my hand. When they sent the child back, he collected the child. The child was three years old, but he was sick due to no good food, so they sent him back early. It was his father that went to collect the child from the airport.
