The former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Obi, has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for leaving the country shortly after returning from abroad.

Obi shared his comments on his official X handle on Friday, September 5, 2025.

This comes after Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced that Tinubu would be visiting France and the United Kingdom for his 2025 annual leave.

In his post, Obi accused the President of showing a pattern of avoiding staying in Nigeria. Obi noted that in just two years, Tinubu has spent significant time in France, and he expressed concern that Nigerians should be worried about this trend.

He argued that the President should have postponed his trip given the current challenges facing the country and stressed that Tinubu should be willing to make personal sacrifices for the people of Nigeria.

On his X handle, the former governor wrote:
“The President left the country once more, just six days after coming back to Nigeria from a 15-day trip that was originally scheduled for only five days. He is now set for roughly his 10th visit to France in two years, this time for his annual holiday.
