Kenneth Okonkwo, a former chieftain of the Labour Party, has maintained that only Peter Obi can provide clarity about his political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
In an interview with Channels Television, Okonkwo disclosed that he has been inundated with questions on whether Obi plans to remain in the Labour Party or shift to another party, possibly the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He noted, however, that he has no answers since Obi has not publicly disclosed his plans. “I’m not in a position to predict. Though he has shown sympathy for ADC, he hasn’t declared his choice of platform. Until he does, I cannot speak for him,” Okonkwo remarked.
Okonkwo emphasized that it would be misleading for him to speak on Obi’s behalf when he himself does not understand Obi’s stance on key issues or his 2027 ambitions. “At the moment, everything about his next move is a puzzle only he can solve,” he said.
His remarks underline the heightened speculation about Obi’s future, especially after his impressive 2023 presidential outing that energized a large section of Nigerian.
