According to a report by Vanguard on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Hadi Sirika has denied claims suggesting his involvement in the opposition coalition aiming to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The former Aviation Minister, who served two terms under former President Muhammadu Buhari, addressed the reports during an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Wednesday.

He insisted that he had no connection with the coalition and affirmed that he would not be part of it.

According to Sirika, the news linking him to the opposition group is unfounded.

He explained that he had been misrepresented in some reports, which incorrectly stated that he was actively participating in political maneuvers against the current administration.

Sirika emphasized that he has always focused on national development and public service rather than engaging in political alliances against sitting leaders.

During the interview, Sirika recounted a personal interaction with Chief Bayo Onanuga at the Presidential Villa, where the coalition’s alleged involvement was brought up.

He clarified that Onanuga mentioned seeing reports naming him as part of the group.

Sirika responded directly, making it clear that he was not affiliated and would not join such a coalition in the future, he described the reports as inaccurate and misleading.

Sirika further noted that while people are free to form political coalitions as part of democratic practice, his political stance remains independent of opposition agendas.

He stated that the focus of his public service has always been on governance and policy rather than partisan politics or efforts to challenge the current presidency.

His remarks highlighted his commitment to a non-partisan approach in national affairs.

Observers have noted that Sirika’s statement comes at a time when speculation about political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections has increased.

Various political figures have been linked to opposition efforts, and the media has widely circulated reports about potential alliances.

Sirika’s clarification aims to set the record straight and prevent misinformation from influencing public perception of his political intentions.

In addition, Sirika stressed that democracy allows citizens to join political groups of their choice, but he personally prefers to stay focused on broader national issues.

His comments underline a distinction between participating in party politics and contributing to national governance through public service, this perspective, he said, guides his current and future political engagements.

Hadi Sirika’s statement on Channels Television confirms his stance against being part of the opposition coalition and reiterates his dedication to serving Nigeria in non-partisan capacities.

He maintained that the reports claiming otherwise are not reflective of his political orientation or personal convictions.
